As an independent intermediary, we have agreements to provide you with advice and intermediary service in respect of products from Allan Gray, Altrisk, Alexander Forbes, Anbro, Ashburton, Discovery, Investec, Liberty, Momentum, Nedbank Private Wealth Stockbrokers, Julius Baer, Credit Suisse, Old Mutual, 36One, Sanlam, RMB and Visio.  

We also provide services on Caleo funds, but have vested interests in these.

All financial services provided by our Representatives are done on behalf of the Financial Services Provider, who assumes full responsibility for the actions of its representatives conducted within the normal course and scope of business. Caleo regularly monitors the fit and proper status of its Representatives and confirms this status.

Private equity (other than in respect of advice), non-financial products and non-financial services do not fall under the jurisdiction of either the FSCA or the FAIS Ombud and you are advised to take care when selecting these.

The financial services provider cannot be held liable in terms of any prejudice in respect of services or advice provided by any representative which falls outside the scope of this authorisation, and any complaint in respect of any product which falls outside the definition of financial product of the FAIS Act, cannot be forwarded to the FAIS Ombud


Confidentiality and Protection of Personal Information

All information provided by you is treated in terms of the strictest confidentiality. We will under no circumstances reveal this to any 3rd party without your written permission, unless we are obliged to do so in terms of law.  

Information required to be submitted to product providers, tax and other authorities or other necessary service providers will be limited to that which is required. We are regularly audited by our Compliance Practice as well as the Financial Services Regulator and other applicable Regulators. It may happen that your file is one of those which is audited to ensure compliance with prevailing legislation, and in this instance, your information will be made available to these persons. In turn, they are also bound by strict confidentiality restraints and ethics.

The information which we require from you is specifically required to assess your financial needs/ situation, analyse, and make appropriate recommendations to you in the course of financial planning. To give effect to this, processing happens by our internal staff members as well as any product provider who may eventually receive your custom. The information will not be used for any purpose other than that for which it has been collected.  Processing will be limited to that which is necessary.

We are required by law to maintain your information for a period of 5 years after the termination of our relationship with you as a minimum, however we prefer to keep our records permanently, for compliance and reference purposes– and by accepting our services you agree to these terms and conditions. All personal information is stored securely, with reasonable precautions taken to ensure that there is no breach of confidentiality.

Remuneration

Our advisors are remunerated in accordance with prevailing commission regulations and permitted fees which are disclosed on documents such as quotes, and fund fact sheets. Where any fees are charged, these will be agreed in writing with you before any financial services are provided, and you have the right to cancel these at any time.

Professional Indemnity and Fidelity Insurance

Our Firm holds professional indemnity insurance to the value of R50 million, and fidelity insurance to the value of R10 million which means we are insured for claims arising from professional negligence, errors and omissions on the part of representatives, as well as for dishonesty.


Conflict of Interest

Our business is conducted with the highest ethics and integrity, and we understand that actual or perceived conflicts of interest may impact upon our relationship with you. In order to address this, we will avoid any such instance where possible, and if this is not possible, we will fully disclose such to you so as to place you in an informed position prior to the provision of any services.

It is standard business practice to on occasion obtain referrals in respect of business. In certain instances, referral fees are paid to the referrer, although we remain independent and do not deem this as any potential or actual conflict of interest. Where your business has been referred to us by a third party, we will disclose this to you as a professional courtesy.

Caleo is the portfolio manager of the Caleo BCI CIS funds  which are managed through BCI. These comprise the Caleo BCI Active Income Fund (A), the Caleo BCI Balanced Fund of Funds (A), Caleo BCI Equity Fund (A), Caleo BCI Equity Fund (B), Caleo BCI Worldwide Opportunities Fund of Funds (A), Caleo BCI Worldwide Opportunities Fund of Funds (B).

In the event of investment into any of the Caleo collective investment scheme funds, Caleo receives an additional annual service fee.

Details of our associates and interests requiring disclosure are contained in our conflict of interest policy. Should you require a copy of this, it is available on our website and from our offices on request.

In the past 12 months this business did not earn more than 30% of its income from any single product provider, and we can confirm our independence in that we have no financial interest in any product supplier other than that which has been disclosed.


Complaints Procedures

We welcome your feedback in an effort to continually improve our service to you, whether this be compliment or complaint. The complaints officer will assist you to address the concerns you have and will also provide you with a copy of our complaints policy and procedure. Please note that in terms of the FAIS Act, and also to ensure we adequately understand the nature of your concern, all complaints must be addressed to us in writing. Should we not be able to address the concerns to your satisfaction, you may wish to lodge a complaint with any of the Ombuds whose detail appear below, but in particular with the FAIS Ombud should your complaint relate to advice or poor service. Anti Money Laundering

In terms of prevailing legislation, we are required to obtain and verify your personal and/ or business information, before any transaction is permitted, and going forward, this may need to be re-verified intermittently. We may, subsequently, require additional information and/or verification, and request your patience in this regard.

Where we are unable to verify the information provided to us, or where you do not provide us with the required information and verification documentation, we are not authorised to proceed or action any further transaction on your behalf.

Where we provide you with a physical copy of this document, receipt will be confirmed in our correspondence with you, or in our record of engagement. A copy of this document will also be emailed to you to retain for your electronic records.
